Christina Sutherin, COO
Christina joined HHS in July of 2022. Christina's experience includes being the Kennel and Procurement Manager, K9s for Warriors - Ponte Vedra, FL which consisted of her • Oversee Kennel Operations and Procurement process for K9s • Develop standard operating procedures for best practices in kennels • Ensure proper training of new K9 Caretakers • Direct involvement with employees relations to include, hiring, disciplinary actions, training, evaluations and terminations, etc. She was also the Director of the Nassau Humane Society - Fernandina Beach, FL and responsible for- • Fundraising and donor relations • Set guidelines, policies and procedures for facility in line with best practices • Liaison for partner shelters • Oversee Animal Control Officers and Field Management • Restraint and capture of nuisance, sick and injured animals • Public education throughout community and area schools • Marketing and exposure of facility adoptions and special events
Scott Lope Admissions Manager
Scott joined us back in 2021 and has taken over the admissions area by storm! Scott travels from Orlando daily so he has lots of time to brainstorm on the way in and decompress on the way back. We are happy to have Scott on our team.
Tim Killeen Training and Success Manager
For the last 33 years I have been in the Hospitality industry in that time I have operated, owned and was an executive for many management companies, restaurants, nightclubs, bars and a hotel. Although there are many attributes that I bring to HHS but my favorite thing to do is to train people and build a positive culture. I have recently relocated to Florida from my lifelong home of Denver, Colorado. My lovely wife Michelle of 17 years is from Lake Helen and we have just purchased our forever home there to raise my youngest son and for him to grow up near his Grandpa only a short mile away. I have two beautiful dogs, a Springer Spaniel named Fergus and his partner in crime Willow, who is a Cocker Spaniel, they are loving the warm weather.

Director of Development
My experience in nonprofit management extends more than 23 years, with progressive responsibilities including: strategic planning and execution; comprehensive fundraising and marketing campaigns; board and volunteer management; leadership donor portfolios; and public relations. I have led fundraising operations representing varied academic and social service areas with extensive experience in management of personnel, community relations, marketing/branding, event planning, public speaking and donor relations.
Thrift Store Manager
Janine has over 25-years of retail and store management experience. She was instrumental in the relocation coordination and management of the thrift store on Granada Blvd., to the new, self-standing location at 385 S. Yonge Street, Ormond Beach, FL 32174. We are very happy to have Janine as our leader at our new store, Rescue ReTail.
Baylee Witt Program Manager
I have worked in the animal industry for nine exciting years. The majority of my experience comes from working in animal hospitals ranging from kennel technician and vet assistant to veterinary customer service manager. I switched gears to manage pet resorts before finding my place at Halifax Humane Society as Programs Manager. I look forward to managing the volunteer, foster, behavior, and adoptions departments while also shedding a spotlight on our hardworking and compassionate staff members through employee appreciation celebrations.

Living, Breathing & Loving Rescues 24/7!
I fell in love with helping homeless animals in elementary school when I began fostering and working with rescues in front of PetSmart to find great homes for animals. These homeless animals captured my heart and started me on my life's journey of caring, loving, fostering, enriching, training, and creating opportunities to help them find loving homes.
My hobby is volunteering my time to organizations and rescues in need. I've had the opportunity to care for baby animals who could not provide for themselves, I cared for numerous puppy litters and foster neonatal and geriatric animals that often require 24-hour care. I feel incredibly fortunate and fulfilled to care for and be a part of these animals' lives and rescues in need.
I'm excited and honored to join the Halifax Humane Society Team as the Director of Operations. Before coming to Halifax Humane Society, I worked as the Animal Care Specialist Coordinator at Miami Dade Animal Services. I was responsible for managing an incredible, passionate team of 80 employees to care, train, nurture, foster, and enrich the lives of 400 dogs and 200 cats. During my 15-year career journey in various positions, I've gained experience in animal behavior and training, adoptions, animal care and safety, shelter medicine, kennel management, animal control, animal welfare, community awareness, event planning, organizational development, volunteer training, process management, and much more. I'm incredibly fortunate to align my career and experiences with my passion for Rescues and homeless animals.
Holly Popple Special Events Manager
Holly is not only new to Halifax Humane Society – she just relocated to Florida, fulfilling a lifelong dream! She came from Northern Virginia where she has been an event manager for the past 24 years. Holly is a creative strategist with specialties in entertainment, décor, and programming for events of all sizes.
In addition to event planning, Holly has a passion for all animals, though she is especially fond of cats. She currently has two rescued main coon/tabby mixes, Vesper and Minuet (otherwise known as “Babies”).
