Volusia Reads Together
Volusia Reads Together! is a community reading program dedicated to creating shared conversations and providing a range of related events and activities.The Volusia County Public Library will celebrate this year’s Volusia Reads Together program with “Lessons in Chemistry” by Bonnie Garmus.The program officially runs from March 8 – April 13, 2024. The library will host a series of events with the community. There are many diverse programs related to the book, and the hope is that it sparks many book discussions. For more information, pick up a program booklet beginning March 1, for a list of over100 programs, including community book discussions, film screenings, exhibits, crafts, music programs, games, and many other engaging programs.Library branches will provide free copies of Lessons in Chemistry starting in mid-March, but only while supplies last!
How To Festival
A countywide How-To day on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM held at six library locations.
Local experts, hobbyists and professionals will share their passions and provide interactive instructional assistance to residents at the upcoming How-to Festival. More than 50 free programs.

All festival events are free to attend, and pre-registration is not required.
Recipes and Reads: Culinary Labs Culinary Lab workshops serve up comprehensive, culinary literacy programs that include hands-on demonstrations of food and nutritional literacy; food acquisition methods; food handling, hygiene and safety; culture and history of food; and consumer cost-saving techniques and meal stretching. Each of the culinary lab workshops may include the use of fully stocked mobile, kitchen carts to aid in these food-related demonstrations. The labs are strategically located at library branches throughout the county and serve all ages. Registration may be required, at some locations, for Recipes and Reads: Culinary Lab workshops.

ARPA Grant Update: Mobile Technology Lab
The mobile lab will provide staff to take the van to schools, after-school programs, summer camps, and to smaller branches. A staff team is currently developing a STEM curriculum to utilize the equipment provided in the STEM Van (iPads, drones, OSMO classroom learning, Makey classroom kit). The VCPL team will also work on stop motion animation, and coding.

Our latest snapshot took place on March 15, 2024. During this time, we documented the many ways people use library services. Library staff took pictures of activities, gathered statistics on usage and collected customer comments showing how patrons used the library that day.
