The Volusia County Public Library System is rich in information and resources that benefit small businesses in the community. This program has been developed specifically for small businesses and to benefit local entrepreneurs and growing businesses.

Leaders in both the Library Services and Economic Development divisions believe that the business community can be better connected to the resources and information.

Learn about free resources for small business owners and entrepreneurs available at the Volusia County Public Library and the Acuity Small Business Pass Program. Businesses 5 years and older have found these resources invaluable in helping them avoid pitfalls and maintain a healthy bottom-line.

Business data base (Data Axle) -  The comprehensive database is available on demand with an Acuity card to research suppliers, competitors and customers. A learning session should be designed to provide examples of data use and best practice for data extraction. Data Axle does have a customer service team that can respond as inquiries are made.

 

Business learning library (Linked-In Learning) – This outstanding content available through Acuity is easily searchable and refreshed regularly. Business professionals can expand their expertise when they choose, and in areas that are relevant at that moment.

 

Business publications and periodicals (Flipster, Pressreader) – Whether catching up with leading edge articles in Entrepreneur magazine, checking on the latest market trends in the Wall Street Journal or exploring tech publications for the next new product, business owners can find the latest information in the digital magazines and newspapers with their Acuity Business Pass.

 

Business meeting rooms – With an Acuity Business Class Pass businesses can reserve and utilize library meeting rooms without fees. Rooms offer flexible seating and AV capabilities for both live and digital presentations. The meeting facilities are available at Volusia County’s regional libraries and offer convenient access and parking.

 

Business training sessions (SME-led training sessions) – The Acuity Business Pass program will include an in-person learning series sponsored by the Economic Development Division. Each year a semi-monthly series of classes and workshops will be made available to Acuity card holders (free) and local residents (nominal fee). Accommodations for the training session will be provided by Library Services at the various regional branches and the topics covered will be selected by the Economic Development division.  

 

Design, modelling and specialized production equipment (3d print, laser engrave, photo and video production) – Acuity Business Class Pass card holders will be given access to specialized design and modeling equipment when available. Designated regional libraries will house the equipment and coordinate orientation training prior to a member’s initial use. Advanced training on design software and modeling will be integrated into the business training session schedule.
